Viscoelastic Anti-Corrosion Tape, also known as Viscoelastic Tape, is a polymeric anti-corrosion tape that remains uncured, non-crosslinked, and non-crystalline, exhibiting cold flow properties even at -45°C.
Our company manufactures viscoelastic anti-corrosion tape in compliance with CDP-S-OGP-AC-017-2013-2 regulations and SY/T5918-2017 technical standards, with a temperature resistance range of -45°C to +130°C. It requires no primer and adheres directly to multi-coated surfaces including steel, cement, PE, PP, FBE, PVC, asphalt, and liquid epoxy. Widely applied in petroleum and natural gas, refining and chemical processing, urban gas, LNG, offshore platforms, chemical engineering, nuclear power, thermal power, material reserves, water supply, and sewage treatment industries. It provides corrosion protection for steel new and in-service long-distance pipelines, buried pipelines, buried valve bodies, flanges, tank bottom edge plates, various irregular equipment, and coating repairs. Viscoelastic anti-corrosion tape conforms effortlessly to any shape, providing seamless, gap-free coverage for irregular pipe fittings, variable-diameter pipelines, and joint sleeves. It delivers long-term performance with over 30 years of impermeability, continuously blocking all types of corrosive agents.
Due to the flexible nature of viscoelastic anti-corrosion tape, when used as a corrosion barrier layer, it must be paired with a high-strength mechanical protection layer. This layer should consist of either a polyethylene adhesive tape with a thickness ≥0.8mm, a mesh-reinforced polypropylene adhesive tape ≥1.1mm, pressure-sensitive heat-shrinkable tape, or UV-curable tape. This combination enhances resistance to damage caused by external stresses.
1. Consistent thickness, uniform flatness, and surface-ready for painting
2. Minimal surface preparation required, with excellent adhesive flow properties
3. Compatible with a wide range of coatings, allowing the adhesive layer to penetrate any pores in the substrate
4. Superior chemical resistance, aging resistance, and sealing performance
1. Surface preparation shall be at least ST2/3 grade, ensuring cleanliness free of debris and adhered rust.
2. Apply using a wrapping method. Overlap the viscoelastic corrosion-resistant tape axially by 10–15% of its width, with end overlaps ≥50% of tape width. If skin contact occurs during use, clean with detergent solution and water.
3. Apply an outer protective layer of mesh-reinforced polypropylene adhesive tape or polyethylene adhesive tape with axial overlap ≥50% of the tape width. Both ends must cover ≥50mm of the viscoelastic tape coating. When using pressure-sensitive heat-shrink tape for joint protection, ensure both ends cover the viscoelastic tape coating by ≥50mm and overlap the original coating by ≥50mm. The same applies to UV-curable tape.
4. Prohibit outdoor application during rain, snow, fog, or when humidity exceeds 85%, as well as in environments with significant wind and sand.
Transportation and Storage
1. Store upright, stacking no higher than 4 layers to prevent crushing, deformation, contamination, rain exposure, and direct sunlight.
2. Keep in a warehouse with temperatures between -5°C and +35°C and relative humidity below 75%. Store away from heat sources and open flames. Avoid water immersion and freezing.
3. No expiration date.
